    About the Workshop

IZA and Barnard College are organizing the 2nd IZA Annual Workshop on Gender and Family Economics. The workshop will create a stimulating environment that will enable participants to engage in discussion of and receive valuable feedback on pressing issues in gender- and family-related research and policy.

Keynote lectures will be delivered by Professor Catherine C. Eckel (Texas A&M University) and Professor Barbara Petrongolo (Queen Mary University of London).

We invite contributions from both senior and junior researchers. Although submissions in all areas of gender and family economics are welcome, there is a particular interest this year in gender-related issues especially research papers that focus on:

    • Gender and economic outcomes
    • Gender and identity
    • Gender and decision making
    • Gender inequality in labor markets
    • Gender and health
    • Women's economic, social, and political empowerment

    Submissions

Researchers interested in participating should submit an extended abstract or a full paper by November 1, 2017 using our online application form. Notifications will be sent by December 15, 2017.

    Funding

Those authors who are invited to present their papers are expected to participate in the whole of the two day workshop. Economy class airfares and up to 3 nights of lodging for presenting authors and discussants will be covered according to the IZA reimbursement guidelines.

Kindly note that tax regulations prohibit IZA from fully reimbursing the travel expenses of conference participants who combine their trip with other destinations or extend their stay beyond the four-day window surrounding the event.
